SUS began when local hospitals identified that fine lumen suction tubes used in surgery posed a high risk of patient to patient cross infection due to being too difficult to clean. In collaboration with clinicians Matthew Tulley, the founder of SUS, developed a range of single use suction tubes with the same look, feel and functionality as reusable instruments.
The suction tubes were well received and the SUS customer base grew rapidly. As more hospitals chose to switch to single use, SUS was approached by other surgical departments to provide UK manufactured single use alternatives to difficult-to-clean multi-use instruments.
Innovative solutions were developed for Gynaecology, Laparoscopy, General Surgery and Vascular Surgery. Many of these instruments provide improved ergonomics and functionality, as well as consistent quality and a safe alternative to reusables instruments. Each product is developed to ensure cost and efficiency savings.
